Why replace a missing tooth?
When a tooth is lost due to decay or bone loss it is important to have the tooth replaced. Failure to replace missing teeth can result in the surrounding and opposing teeth shifting. This shifting can lead to periodontal (gum) disease, tooth decay, an uneven bite, and eventually even the loss of other teeth.
We offer tooth replacement options!
- Dental implants – A dental implant is the most predictable, long term tooth replacement option. The implant itself is a titanium post that replaces the root of a tooth. Once the implant is placed and allowed time to heal, a crown can be added to replace the missing tooth and restore your smile. We work very closely with our surgeons to ensure proper placement and easy restorability of your dental implants.
- Bridge – a bridge is made by preparing the teeth on either side of a space for crowns. When the crowns are made, a Pontic, or false tooth is supported by the crowned teeth in the space. This is a restoration that is cemented in and is not removable.
- Partials – when multiple teeth are missing from one arch, a partial may be made to replace them all. It is supported by remaining teeth and is removable. We offer partials made from a variety of materials, from flexible partials to cast metal partials with clasps to help “lock” them in.
